Importing Data

Getting your data into Orbit is designed to be as easy as possible. Whether you're migrating from an existing tool or starting fresh with existing content, we offer multiple ways to import your data — from hands-on onboarding support to AI-powered self-service importing.

White Glove Onboarding

Almost all plans include a white glove onboarding service where our team works with you to handle the heavy lifting of getting your data into Orbit. If you're currently using another association management tool or have data spread across various sources, we'll work with you to:

  • Extract data from your existing systems
  • Set up your initial portal
  • Import your members, events, courses, and other content

Just reach out via the contact page or through the representative associated with your account and we're happy to handle this for you.

Spreadsheet Import

Nearly every part of the platform supports importing data via spreadsheet (CSV or Excel):

  • Memberships — membership levels and member records
  • Events — event details and registrations
  • Resources — resource library entries
  • Announcements — news articles and updates
  • Member Directory — directory entries and profiles
  • Courses — course details and enrollments
  • Mailing lists — subscriber lists
  • Users — user accounts

Templates and AI Assistance

We provide export templates for every data type so you can see the exact format expected. But you don't have to match the format perfectly — with your permission, our AI-powered import system can analyze your spreadsheet and automatically map your columns to the correct fields, fine-tuning the data to work with our expected data structures. This makes it much easier to import data from other tools without manual reformatting.

URL Import

If you already have content on publicly accessible websites, you can import it by simply pasting a link. Orbit will visit the page, extract the relevant data using AI, and create a draft entry. This works for:

  • Memberships — import membership tier details from an existing membership page
  • Events — import event details from an event listing or detail page
  • Resources — import resource information from a public page
  • Announcements — import articles or news posts
  • Courses — import course details from a course catalog page
  • Course lessons — import lesson content from existing learning pages

This is especially useful when migrating content from another platform — rather than manually recreating each entry, just paste the links.

Copy and Paste Import

If your content isn't on a publicly accessible website, you can copy and paste raw text or HTML directly into the import tool. Paste content from documents, internal pages, emails, or any other source — the AI-powered importer will:

  • Analyze and sanitize the content
  • Extract titles, descriptions, and relevant metadata
  • Parse pricing data, dates, locations, and other structured information
  • Create a properly formatted entry ready for review

This works as a one-shot import — paste your content, review the result, and publish. It's a fast way to get content into the system without any formatting work.

Bulk File Upload

For resources, you can upload multiple files at once. Each file is created as a separate resource, and AI content generation automatically populates titles and descriptions for each one.
