Orbit's course platform lets associations offer training to their members — both in-person sessions and online self-paced learning. The platform includes a built-in LMS with hosted video, progression tracking, quizzes, and certificates, all as part of the core platform. See the Learning Management page for full details on the LMS.
Creating Courses
Create courses from the admin portal under Courses. Each course includes:
- Name — the course title
- Description — rich content with text, images, tables, and presenter cards (each presenter can have a photo, name, and biography)
- Featured image — upload a photo, choose a gradient, generate one with AI, or search Unsplash
- Delivery type — online or in-person
In-Person Courses
For in-person courses, you can specify:
- Location name — the venue
- Address — the full address, geocoded for map display
- Start and end date/time — when the course takes place
Online Courses
Online courses use Orbit's built-in LMS, which provides a complete learning experience — lessons, video, quizzes, progression tracking, and certificates — without needing any third-party tools. You can also link to an external course URL if the content is hosted elsewhere. See the Learning Management page for details.
Access and Pricing
You have extensive control over who can access each course and how it's priced.
Visibility
- Public — visible and enrollable by anyone
- Members only — only users with an active membership can enroll
Pricing
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Free | No payment required to enroll |
| Paid | A standard enrollment price, processed through Stripe |
| Member pricing | Set both a standard price and a discounted member price. Active members automatically receive the lower price at checkout. |
Capacity
Set a maximum number of enrollments. When the course is full, enrollment is disabled and the remaining spots are displayed as capacity fills up. Leave blank for unlimited enrollment.
Scheduling
Courses can be available immediately or scheduled with specific start and end dates.
Enrollment Management
Self-Service Enrollment
Published courses appear on the course listing page. Users can browse, view course details, and enroll directly. For paid courses, payment is handled through Stripe. A confirmation email is sent automatically upon enrollment.
Manual Enrollment
Admins can add enrollments directly from the admin portal, useful for staff registrations, complimentary access, or off-platform sign-ups.
Importing Enrollments
Import enrollments via CSV with fields for name, email, organization, and payment status. Export existing enrollments first to see the required format. Enrollments can also be exported as a CSV spreadsheet.
Enrollment Links
Generate one-time enrollment links (magic links) that allow specific users to enroll directly. Links expire after 24 hours and can only be used once.
Importing Courses
You can import courses in bulk:
- Spreadsheet import — import via CSV or Excel with all course fields. Export existing courses first to see the required format.
- URL import — paste a link to a course on another website and Orbit will extract the details using AI, creating a draft course.
Sharing and Promotion
Courses can be shared via email, social media, or embedded on your website — both individually and as a full course listing. See Sharing & Promotion for details.
Analytics
Built-in analytics track enrollment trends, page views, and traffic sources for each course. See Per-Feature Analytics for details.
Publishing Workflow
Courses follow Orbit's standard draft/publish/archive workflow. See Publishing Workflow for details.
User Portal
Users see course information in their portal dashboard:
- Courses summary widget — shows the user's active course enrollments and total available courses
- Browse courses — quick link to the course listing
